Director Brian McManus.
At the age of 16, inspired by his father’s craft, Brian took an apprenticeship with J.Dykes & Sons in Glasgow, Scotland. Once qualified after 4 years, aged 20, he worked on the development of the new models before they went into production, this was unheard of for someone so young and just out of his apprenticeship to be given this responsibility. He now has 50 years’ experience in sofa and chair design, as Development Manager, and Production Director, he’s worked with renowned companies such as Lyndon Design which made furniture for Harrods, Heals and the Crown supplies, which were supplying sofas and chairs to the British Embassies throughout the world. Group Development Manager, of 9 factories, then General Manager of 250 people, plus 18 managers/supervisors.
Director Teresa McCarthy.
Wanting to be a nurse as she is a kind, giving, and caring person, took a job to fill in the time before starting college. When she was due to leave and start college, the company (Robert Vietor) later becoming Olympia Furniture, persuaded her to stay on permanently and work full time. 35 years later Teresa started Supreme Upholstery with Brian. She has a wealth of knowledge in the furniture industry behind her.
Wood Machinist Dave.
With over half a century of experience under his belt, Dave is a seasoned pro in the trade. As Wood Machinist, Dave plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process, meticulously preparing wood for frame assembly on-site at Supreme Upholstery’s wood mill in Trafford Park.
Dave eagerly anticipates seeing the Old Lace leather adorning his future sofa, patiently waiting for the day his grandchildren are old enough to fully appreciate its beauty.
Upholsterer Wayne.
With over 40 years of experience, Wayne is a skilled Upholsterer, starting his career as an apprenticeship. His daily tasks revolve around meticulously covering sofa and chair frames with high-quality fabrics and leathers, adding detailing such as fluting, pleating and studding to give a high quality finish to the design.
Wayne’s passion for the upholstery craft is particularly evident when he’s working with velvety textures like the Lovely and Plush ranges.
Frame Assembler Kieron.
With over two decades of industry experience, Kieron is a skilled Frame Assembler, he works with high-quality hardwood and plywood, ensuring every sofa, chair and sofa bed offers comfort & durability.
His love for Supreme Upholstery clearly runs deep, as evidenced by his encouragement for his son, Connor, to join the business, as well as his recent corner sofa purchase.
Fabric Cutter Connor.
Connor’s journey at Supreme Upholstery mirrors a tradition of excellence. Beginning as an apprentice, he recently achieved distinction in his NVQ, marking a promising start to his career. As Fabric Cutter, Connor conscientiously marks out and cuts fabric for our sofas, chairs, and footstools, ensuring precision and quality in every piece.
Fuelled by a passion for versatility and functionality, Connor’s favourite model is the corner sofa.
Seamstress Malgorzata.
Margaret, a valued addition to Supreme Upholstery since 2019, embodies passion and precision in her role as a Seamstress. With extensive experience in working with both fabric and leather, she breathes life into every design that comes her way.
Whether working with more intricate patterns or luxurious materials, she consistently delivers exceptional quality making her an invaluable member of the team.
